Wever (IA) -- A rural Sperry man whose body was found Wednesday (July 29, 1987) near Skunk River Bridge north of Wever died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Ray Anderson Basquin, rural Sperry, committed suicide, according to Lee County Medical Examiner Eugenio Torres.

Sheriff Bud Arnold said Basquin's body was found at about 2 p.m. in a pickup truck parked near Burlington Northern railroad tracks near the bridge.

A garden hose was run from the exhaust, through the floorboards, and into the cab of the truck. Family members said Basquin had been despondent, Arnold said.

A man fishing in the area saw the truck and contacted the sheriff's department.
