    • Mrs. Minerva Deborah Jamison Dotson, 82, Mediapolis resident died at Burlington hospital Wednesday (April 23, 1952) at 8:45 p.m.

      A daughter of John and Rachel Jamison, she was born east of Newport January 29, 1870.

      She married Thurman A. Dotson, who survives, November 19, 1890.

      Most of their married life was spent on a farm near Newport and [they had] lived the past few years in Mediapolis.

      A daughter, Mrs. Lewis Pilling, survives, as do several grand and great-grandchildren One son, Walter Dotson, preceded her in death.

      The body is at the Fry Funereal chapel, Mediapolis, where services for Mrs. Dotson will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m.

      Reverend C. M. Rosenberger will be in charge with burial at Kossuth cemetery.

    J. W. and Rachel Jamison were married in 1862 in Louisa County, Iowa. They were the parents of five children: Tuttle Gilbert Jamison (1863-1936), Isaac M. Jamison (1865-1938), Jennie Jane "Hulda" Kremer (1866-1925), Deborah "Minerva" Dotson (1870-1952), and Mary Pearl Robb (1874-1946). Rachel and J. W. are both buried at the Wapello Cemetery in Louisa County.

      Gail Chamberlin of Muscatine was named president for the coming year at the Henry Bier family reunion held at Cartwright park in Mediapolis Sunday.

      Others chosen were Mrs. N. M. Stark, vice president; and Mrs. Cora Spring, secretary and treasurer.

      At the business meeting, which followed a basket dinner at noon, Will Bailey of Wapello presided and Miss Martha Peters of West Liberty served as secretary-treasurer.

      Forty-one attended the event, which was the fourth annual reunion.

    Thurman Allen Dotson (1867-1954) and Deborah "Minerva" Jamison (1870-1952) were married November 19, 1889. They had a son and daughter. Son Walter Elsworth Dotson (1890-1930) married Mary Charlotte Pilling (1891-1982), the daughter of Charles Broadbent Pilling and Sarah Alice "Allie" Seeds. Walter and Minerva's daughter was Lois Alta Dotson (1897-1978), who married Lewis D. Pilling (1896-1959). Lewis was a brother to Mary Charlotte, Walter's wife.

    Minerva Jamison was a daughter of John Walter "J. W." Jamison (1841-1911) and Rachel A. Vaughn (1843-1919). She was born January 29, 1870, in Newport, Iowa. She married Thurman Allen Dotson (1867-1954) on November 19, 1889. Minerva died April 23, 1952, in Burlington, Iowa, and was buried at the Kossuth Cemetery near Mediapolis, Iowa.
