    • Emma Lee Jennings was born in Appanoose county, Iowa, July 25, 1871, and departed this life April 5, 194 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arliss Parrish, Luray, Missouri, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She was the daughter of Theodore and Mary Jennings. In the year 1884 she came to Lebanon, Iowa, with her parents, where she lived until she was united in marriage to Thomas W. Shelton, November 5, 1896.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and one sister, Ida Mae Jennings.

She joined the Methodist Episcopal church of Lebanon, Iowa, in 1885 and has been a faithful servant of the M. E. church ever since. She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Shelton, and seven children, all living, as follows: Thomas Floyd Shelton, Brush Colorado; Lloyd Jennings Shelton, Brush, Colorado; Lyle Delos Shelton, Denver, Colorado; Vera Beryl Parrish, Luray, Missouri; Gerald Bernard Shelton, Sunny Dale (sic), California; Harold Dee Shelton, Luray Missouri; Cora Pear Fifer, Lorraine, Illinois. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and one great-grandson. She also leaves to mourn her going many [other] relatives and friends.

She has been a kind, faithful and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all. Loving hands ministered to her in her last sickness, repaying her for her former kindnesses shown them. The bread cast upon the waters returned to her after many days.

Prayer: Lord of Thine own Cross and sharer of the crosses of all who follow Thee, suffer us not, in any extremity, to lose faith in the power of Thy Spirit or doubt the victory of a love which, bearing all things and hoping all things, endures to the end.

"O Christ, be patient with us still Dear Christ, remember Calvary's hill. Our little hearts with patience fill." Amen.

Funeral services were held at the Ashton Chapel by Reverend J. M. Monroe of Kahoka, Missouri. Burial was in the Ashton Cemetery. Singers were: Mrs. Ruby Selway, Mrs. Harley Overhulser and Mrs. Creva Gutting.

Flower bearers: Gene Shelton and Ealine Shelton. Pallbearers: Newt Calvert, Henry [...], Cecil Kilkenny, C. L. Say[...] [...]erlin Sisson and Leo Phillips.
