    • Winfield "Sonny" Ford, 77, of Colona, died Monday, February 27, 2006, at home.

      Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Visitation is 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment is in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice and local Red Cross.

      He was born October 31, 1928, in Galesburg to Winfield and Norma Brems Ford. He married Elouise Hicks July 2, 1949, in Colona. She died February 5, 2001.

      He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked at John Deere for 36 years, retiring as a guard at the John Deere Parts Distribution Center in 1979.

      He enjoyed building and restoring boats and motors, fishing, camping and hunting. He was a member of American Legion Post 1233, Colona, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Carbon Cliff.

      Survivors (and spouses) include two daughters, Margaret Ford Beale, East Moline, and Winnie (Joseph) Ford, Colona; one son, Dan (Deb) Ford, Orion; seven grandchildren, Christina Ford, Rebecca Murphy, Andrea Howard, Joey Ford, Robbie Beale, Eric Ford, Greg Ford; four great-grandchildren, Paige Ford, Conner Murphy, Shawn Murphy, Liam Howard; one brother, Cliff (Georgia) Ford, Moline; one sister, Naomi "Sue" Hall, Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elouise; brother, Art; and sister, Dixie Coakley.
