      The funeral services of Mrs. George Kerr, who died early Thursday morning (April 25, 1940) at her home in this city, were held from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Reverend C. W. Richardson. Leamon Kerr, a grandson of the deceased, and Mrs. L. Ray Wilson and Mrs. John Minnis sang, with Miss Helen Griffith as pianist. The interment was at Elmwood cemetery, the pallbearers being Jesse Kerr, Ira Kerr, Lindsley Kerr, James Kerr, Dave Kerr and A. D. Kerr.

      The following relatives were called here for the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kerr and family of Winfield, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wells, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Smith and Mr. and Mrs. George Schofield of Burlington; Mrs. Kathryn Windmiller, Mrs. Ola Marshall and Mrs. Leonard Moore and Joan of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Jamison and family and Russell Robbins of Rockford, Illinois; Richard Eugene Kerr of Eldora, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Stockfelt of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. VanZant and family of Bettendorf, Iowa.

      Druzella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Congrove, was born in Reedsville, Ohio, December 21, 1865, and passed away at her home in Morning Sun, April 25, 1940, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 4 days. When 8 years of age she moved with her parents to Kossuth, Iowa, and from there to Morning Sun, where she grew to womanhood. May 1, 1889, she was united in marriage to George P. Kerr at Wapello.

      To this union eight children were born; five of whom preceded her in death, Nellie. Addie, Alice, Susie and Ermel. Her husband departed this life October 4, 1932. Three full sisters, one full brother, and three half sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist church of Morning Sun.

      Mrs. Kerr is survived by three children, Ott of Winfield, and Elmer and Oakland of Morning Sun; three half sisters, Mrs. Anna Backman of Waterloo, Mrs. Kittie Windmiller and Mrs. Ollie Marshall of Des Moines two half brothers, Fred Congrove of Morning Sun and C. C. Congrove of Chicago, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren three great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who mourn her departure. Her last words were "I'll be safe in the arms of Jesus by morning."
