    • Selma M. "Sally" Pierce, 89, of Wever, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 1990, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

      Born April 18, 1901, in Benton Township, Des Moines County, she was the daughter of H. C. and Nettie Jones Timmerman. She married Orin T. Pierce June 16, 1920, in Latty. He died September 10, 1980.

      She was a secretary for the Machinists Union. She was of the Protestant faith, a member of the Myrtle Chapter No. 94 Order of Eastern Star in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the Daughters of the Nile in Davenport.

      Surviving are two grandsons, Rick Parrott, Burlington, and Thad Parrott, Louisville, Kentucky; a foster daughter, Bonnie Parrott, Las Vegas, Nevada; and a stepsister, Erma Miller, Burlington.

      A memorial service for Mrs. Pierce will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel with the Reverend James Simon officiating.

      The body has been cremated.

      Burial will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

      A memorial has been established for the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital.
