    • MEDIAPOLIS WOMAN SUDDENLY STRICKEN

      Mediapolis (IA), February 11. -- Mrs. G. L. Swan of this town, passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon, following a stroke of apoplexy, altho earlier in the day she had presumably, been in good health. She was the wife of the landlord of the Hotel Dudley, and had hundreds of friends both here and at the previous home city, Morning Sun. She was fifty-eight years old.

      She is survived by her husband, six daughters, one son and six grandchildren. A brief funeral service will be held at the home at 12:30 on Tuesday (sic: see funeral notice) and further services will be held in the Morning Sun Presbyterian church at 2:00. Burial at Morning Sun.

    The obituary of Samantha Jane "Jennie" (Gregory) Swan. Jennie Gregory was born May 8, 1861, in Indiana to David Gregory and Marietta Umphrey. The family moved to Louisa County, Iowa, where she married George Laury Swan September 8, 1880, in Morning Sun. Jennie died February 10, 1918, in Mediapolis, and was buried at the Elmwood Cemetery near Morning Sun February 13, 1918. She and George had eight children: Maude Lulu Owens, Jessie Mae Moyers, the wife of Pearl Alfred "P. A." Moyers, Cora Bell Swan, Lillie J. Johnson, Bertha Nelson, Leah A. Brekke, Ona E. Nordstrom, and Paul C. Swan.
