    • John H. Amos, former Kirklin township assessor, passed away at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis at 2:30 o'clock this morning following an operation for a stomach ailment.

      He entered the hospital Monday for an emergency operation for stomach ulcers.

      He was born in Johnson County on September 13, 1862, son of William Ditto and Julia Catherine Walker Amos, and was married April 12, 1893, to Iva B. Stephenson, who died several years ago.

      He had been a business man of Kirklin for many years and at the time of his death was an agent for an insurance company.

      Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Ethel Combs of Indianapolis, Miss Helen Amos of Mishawaka, Mrs. Alta Bird of Kirklin and Miss Winifred Amos of Indianapolis; three sons, Everett Amos of Indianapolis, Fred Amos of Aurora, Illinois, and John Amos of the Merchant Marines whose definite whereabouts are unknown.

      Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kirklin Christian Church, with Reverend Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
