    • Wapello (IA), February 17. -- Mrs. Rachel Jamison, an aged and highly respected resident of this county, died at an early hour this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. W. Kremer.

      Rachel Vaughn, daughter of John and Deborah (Mason) Vaughn, was born in Louisa county, Iowa, October 12, 1843, being past 75 years of age at the time of her death. She was married to John W. Jamison September 28, 1862,and to this union five children were born, all of whom survive and are: Tuttle G. of Oakville; Isaac M. of Morning Sun; Jennie, wife of D. W. Kremer of Wapello; Minerva, wife of T. Dotson, residing near Wapello, and Mary, wife of Wilson Robb, of Mt. Pleasant. The husband and father passed away several years ago.

      Funeral services will be held from the Kremer home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30.

    John Bergin and Deborah (Mason) Vaughn
    John Vaughn was an early settler of Louisa County, Iowa. He was born in Harrison County, Kentucky, March 17, 1810. His family moved to Indiana, where he married Deborah Mason in 1833. She was a adaughter of Daniel and mary Mason of New Jersey, who moved to Indiana in 1828. They first lived in Johnson County, Indiana, but made there way to Iowa territory and settled in Louisa County, settling in Morning Sun Township. They would remain in Louisa County until their deaths, which were in 1885 for John and 1891 for Deborah.

    J. W. and Rachel Jamison were married in 1862 in Louisa County, Iowa. They were the parents of five children: Tuttle Gilbert Jamison (1863-1936), Isaac M. Jamison (1865-1938), Jennie Jane "Hulda" Kremer (1866-1925), Deborah "Minerva" Dotson (1870-1952), and Mary Pearl Robb (1874-1946). Rachel and J. W. are both buried at the Wapello Cemetery in Louisa County.

    Rachel A. Vaughn, born October 20, 1843, in Iowa Territory, died February 17, 1919, in Wapello, Iowa. She was one of thirteen children born to John Bergin and Deborah (Mason) Vaughn. She married John Walter "J. W." Jamison September 28, 1862. They had five children: Tuttle Jamison, Isaac M. Jamison, Jennie Jane Hulda Kremer, D. "Minerva" Dotson, and Mary Pearl Robb.
