    • Funeral Services Held Friday Afternoon for A. U. Jacoby

Large Crowd Attended Last Rites for Well Known Stanberry Man, Who Died Last Wednesday

A large crowd of sorrowing friends attended the final rites for A. U. Jacoby, who died at his home here last Wednesday morning, following a critical illness from flu and pneumonia. The services were held last Friday afternoon at the home.

The following obituary has been furnished this office:

Albert U. Jacoby, son of John and Fredrica Jacoby, was born in Gentry county, Missouri, December 23, 1864, and departed this life April 6, 1932, at the age of 67 years, three months and 13 days.

He was married November 30, 1887, to Carrie Grimsley, who has traveled life's road with him for more than 44 years.

Mr. Jacoby was born and reared on a farm, and farming claimed his interest all his life. While he retired from his farm about 12 years ago, he never entirely reliquished his activities along that line, but continued more or less active in it until the end.

When 17 years of age he became a Christian and united with the Baptist Church, but 35 years ago he transferred his membership to the Christian Chruch at Mt. Zion. On leaving the farm and coming to Stanberry, his membership was transferred to the First Christain Church here, where he has lived and served ever since. Immediately after he untied with the Christian Church, he was made a deacon, and has served in that office almost continuously since. For the past seven years he has had the care of the church building as janitor. He was faithful to any duty, always responding cheerfully to every call.

He is survived by his devoted wife, two sons, Hunter of Ford City and Martin of Stanberry; the first born, John, passed away last summer; two brothers, Martin of Boseman, Montana, and Morris of Darlington; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Roberts and Mrs. Minnie Owens of Darlington, Mrs. Ida James of Albany and Mrs. Clara Chick of Maryville. There are also four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Reverend N. O. Rogers, pastor of the Christian Church, with whom he had been affiliated for many years, conducted the funeral services last Friday afternoon. The body was interred in the High Ridge Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were: S. B. Sweat, Dr. J. A. Crockett, A. P. Laughlin, J. E. Lunsford, Fred Gehring, J. B. Sager, C. N. Slocum and Wm. Bauer. Active pallbearers were Fred Roberts, Richard Roberts, Joe James, Snider Jacoby, Morris Chick and E. C. Jones. The funeral was in charge of the Pennington Undertaking Company.
