    Charles H. Lett was born September 4, 1819, in Sweden. He immigrated with his wife, Caroline (Johnson) Lett to the United States in 1849 soon after their marriage. Upon arrival they moved to Iowa, where they first used the surname Anderson. They were the parents of nine children, seven of whom were: (males) John A., William A., Frank H., James A. "Jim" and Walter Theodore Lett; (females) Josephine Johnson and Emma Abrahamson. Charles died in 1905 in Morning Sun, Iowa. He and wife Caroline were buried at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Huron Township, Des Moines County, Iowa.

    • The funeral of Charles Lett, whose death of heart failure on February 16th,was mentioned last week, was held from the Swedish Lutheran church south of Mediapolis, Saturday afternoon, conducted by Reverend O. Svenson. A short service was also held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. G. Johnson, in Morning Sun, where he died, Friday afternoon, conducted by Reverends F. W. Adams and Booton. Mr. Lett was born in Sweden, September 5th, 1819. He came to America in 1849 and settled in Iowa, finally locating at Huron in Des Moines county, in 1862. He was married to Caroline Johnson in 1848, the wife passing away about a year ago. Mr. Lett had been a resident of Mediapolis the past few years. He leaves six children: Mrs. A. G. Johnson of Morning Sun; Wm. and Frank Lett of Keithsburg, Illinois; John Lett of Triplet (sic: Triplett), Missouri; James and Walter Lett, of Mediapolis.

    Charles Lett of Sweden, my 2nd great grandfather, was born in 1819. He married Caroline Johnson in 1849 and they immediately immgrated to the United States. Along the way their oldest son, John, was born while still on the Atlantic Ocean in 1849. My great grandfather, Walter Theodore Lett, was their youngest known child, born in 1866.
