    The Hawk Eye 
    • Anthony Lawrence "Tony" Vorwerk, 79, of 1712 South 16th Street, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, July 30, 1990, at Burlington Medical Center.

      Born June 12, 1911, at Dodgeville, he was the son of Theodore and Mary Ann Panther Vorwerk. He married Geneva Pauline Korf August 28, 1935, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

      He was a retired tank truck driver for Sinclair, DX, and Conoco gas and oil companies and was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church.

      Surviving are his wife; three sons, James Vorwerk, Paul Vorwerk and Edmund Vorwerk, all of Burlington; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia (Lee) McGraw, West Burlington, Mrs. Mary Jo (Dick) Lowe and Mrs. Janice (Jim) Newberry, both of Burlington, and Nancy Steingreaber, Newton; three sisters, Mary Roederer and Mrs. Celestine (Cecil) Green, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Loyola (Raymond) Wilkerson, Winfield; one brother, Leonard Vorwerk, Portland, Oregon; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

      The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary and wake service held at 7:30 p.m. at Prugh's Chapel.

      The service for Mr. Vorwerk will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Reverend Carl Leveling officiating.. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

      A memorial has been established for St. Paul's Catholic Church.
