    • There is a deed for land, which Tom Walker (son of Charles Pearsey Walker) noted was in Knoxville, Iowa. It was transferred to Samuel Fortner by Andrew Stone in 1849. How this came to be in possession of the Walkers is unknown (it is in the collection of Marge Kimble), or whether or not it is in the Fortner family of this particular Samuel Fortner, which later produced Roy G. Fortner, the husband of Maude Mae Walker, though judging from census records during that time period, it probably is the same Samuel Fortner as Roy's grandfather.

A Deed for Land Transferred from Andrew Stone to Samuel Fortner
This document is a hand written acknowledgment of transfer of property in 1849 between Andrew Stone and Samuel Fortner, with a note from Thomas "Tom" Walker (son of Charles Pearsey Walker) on it referring to its origins in Knoxville, Iowa. This would most likely be Samuel Fortner who was the grandfather of Roy Grant Fortner (who married Maude Mae (Walker) Umphrey).

Provided by Marge Kimble, it is not clear how this document fell into the possession of our immediate family, but likely Roy had something to do with that.
