      He was a retired Postal Service employee.

      He was born in Benton township October 3, 1893, the son of William and Margaret Brum[m] Burgus. He married Agnes M. Heffner May 9, 1917, in Burlington. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of Bethany Lutheran church and National Association of Letter Carriers.

      Surviving: The wife; son, Dr. Warren, Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Velma J. Burgus, Monmouth, Illinois; two granddaughters; and one great-grandchild. Funeral: 1:30 Saturday, Prugh's Chapel, Reverend Harold A. Bostrom; Aspen Grove cemetery. A memorial to Bethany church has been established.

    Harry Burgus was the youngest child born to William A. and Margaret (Brumm) Burgus. Harry (1893-1977) married Agnes Marion Heffner (1895-1982) in 1917 in Burlington, Iowa. Their children included Warren Harold Burgus and Velma J. Burgus. Warren had a major role in the creation of the first nuclear bomb. His obituary in The Burlington Hawk Eye was listed as "Mr. Burgus was a pioneer of the nuclear age."
