    • Joseph John Nienhaus, 228 South Fourth street, died at 5:30 a.m. July 31 (1952). Death terminated a long illness.

      A native of Burlington, Nienhaus was born January 19, 1886, the son of Joseph and Christina Nienhaus. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.

      Surviving are the widow, the former Mayme Fenske; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nienhaus of Burlington; a brother. Ralph Nienhaus, also of Burlington, and a sister, Mrs. Leonard Schaniel, of Santa Ana, California.

      The body is at the Prugh chapel.

    • Although a daughter Christina was listed on the 1885 Iowa state census, she is not accounted for in the total number of children her mother had given birth to in the 1900 or 1910 census. Also her birth date of about 1882 seems earlier than her parents' wedding date, so it is assumed this was an enumeration error listing her in 1885.
