    • Celebrations around town on recent weekends gave special honors to couples observing many years of married life together. An August 30 open house was held at the Royal Regency Room at The Holiday honoring George and Alta Riemann of Mediapolis on their 60th anniversary. The Riemanns operated a garage and service station in Kingston for many years and enjoyed visiting with old-time friends stopping by to wish them well. After the open house, the family dined together at The Holiday.

All eight of the Riemann children and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren joined in the celebration. Son Donald Riemann came from Longmont, Colorado. A daughter, Virginia Kidder of Knoxville, attended along with husband Jim and a daughter and family, Kimberly and Ronald Johnke, Stacy and Ryan, also of Knoxville. The other daughters and their husbands attending included: Dorothy and Elmer Springsteen, Burlington; Winona and Max Anderson, Marcelle and Lloyd Brown, Doris and Kenneth Rechkemmer, Velma and Howard Keitzer and Florence and Marvin Miller, all of the Mediapolis area. One granddaughter, Kathy Thompson, came from Cedar Falls to help celebrate the anniversary.
