    The Burlington Hawk-Eye 
    • John L. Freitag passed away at Ottumwa at 5:30 o'clock Friday evening (December 20, 1918). The funeral will be held here Tuesday (December 24, 1918), leaving No. 125 North Starr avenue at 1:30 o'clock, with services at the First Evangelical church, on Sixth and Columbia streets, at 2 o'clock, and interment in Aspen Grove.

      Deceased was born in Burlington September 12, 1865, learned the machinists' trade and was busy here until about nine years ago, when he moved to Ottumwa. He had been ailing since last June. He is survived by his widow and three daughters at Ottumwa, and by his mother and the following brothers and sisters here: Henry, William, Charles, August, Albert, and Miss Anna Freitag. Many friends will honor his memory. He was a member of the machinists' union, a competent and faithful worker, a good citizen, who was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

    John L. Freitag was born September 12, 1865, in Des Moines County, Iowa. He died in 1918 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He and his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Hansen, were the parents of four children: Enola Harrington (1894-1988), Ruby Ingham (1895-1928), Bertha Louise Johnson (1898-1935), and LLoyd H. Freitag (1901-1974).
