    • Wapello (IA) -- Mrs. Mildred Marie (Bailey) Callahan, 77, died in Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Columbus Junction, at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31.

      She was born August 16, 1898, near Newport, the daughter of William and Gertrude Dotson Bailey. She married Dale Callahan March 26, 1927, in Burlington.

      She taught in Louisa and Henry county schools, was a member of the Wapello United Presbyterian church, Leyda-Dorcas Circle and the United Presbyterian Women.

      Surviving: The husband; son, Samuel, Burlington; daughter, Janet Dameron, Wapello; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

      Funeral:, 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dudgeon-McCulley funeral home, Wapello, Reverend Jerrold Swinton; Wapello cemetery.

    • Wapello (IA), August 25. -- The seventh annual reunion of the Davison and Dotson families was held at Chautauqua park in Mediapolis Saturday, with 118 present. The event was featured by a picnic dinner at the noon hour, ice cream and watermelons being served. The afternoon was spent with sports and contests.

      During the business session, officers for the coming year were elected as follows: Mrs. George R. Deihl, Wapello, president; I. M. Jamison, Morning Sun, vice president; Mrs. Henry Meyerholz, Wapello, secretary and treasure; committee on grounds and arrangements: W. D. Peters, W. S.     Martha died near Newport, Iowa, March 20, 1927. Granddaughter Verona Violet (Dotson) Walker and husband George, and grandson Theodorore Roosevelt "T. R." Dotson and wife Zella "Myrtle" (Walker) Dotson, were called to the home of Gertrude D. (Dotson) Bailey, where Martha died.

    • Miss Mildred M. Bailey and Mr. Curtis Dale Callahan, both of Wapello, were united in marriage at 2:00 o'clock, Saturday afternoon (March 26, 1927), at the parsonage of St. Paul's Methodist church in this city. Reverend J. Stanley Decker officiated, using the double ring ceremony.

      The bridal party consisted of the bride and groom, the parents of the bride, and Miss Doris Maxwell of Crawfordsville, Iowa, a friend of the bride. Miss Bailey was becomingly dressed in a gown of beige flat crepe with hat, shoes and stockings to match.

      The bride, who is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Bailey, is a charming young lady and has been a successful teacher for some years in the schools of Louisa and Henry counties. She is at present teaching in the schools of Mt. Union, Iowa, and will finish her present contract. The groom is a son of Thomas J. Callahan of the same neighborhood, and is a young man of excellent qualities and promise as a farmer and citizen. They will, for the present make their home with the bride's parents, Mr. Callahan taking charge of his father-in-law's farm.

    • Gail Chamberlin Heads Annual Beir Family Reunion

      Gail Chamberlin of Muscatine was named president for the coming year at the Henry Bier family reunion held at Cartwright park in Mediapolis Sunday.

      Others chosen were Mrs. N. M. Stark, vice president; and Mrs. Cora Spring, secretary and treasurer.

      At the business meeting, which followed a basket dinner at noon, Will Bailey of Wapello presided and Miss Martha Peters of West Liberty served as secretary-treasurer.

      Forty-one attended the event, which was the fourth annual reunion.
