    • Funeral services were held for Eva May Carman, 88, of Letts, on Wednesday, March 15, 1995, at 10:30 a.m. at the Letts United Methodist Church with Reverend Kent Kastler officiating. Mrs. Annette Townsley provided the music. Casket bearers were Mark Carman, Susan Carman, Anita Stineman, Bruce Thomas, Melvin Thomas, Jeff Thomas and Mary Tobin. Burial was in the Letts Cemetery. Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. A memorial has been established for the Letts Church and the Wapello Care Center.

      Eva died on sunday, March 12, 1995, at the Wapello Care Center, Wapello, after an extended illness.

      Eva May Fischer was born January 28, 1907, in Yarmouth, Iowa, to Bert A. and Minnie Broeker Fischer. Eva married James Norman Carman November 20, 1930, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. She was a registered nurse and worked in private duty in the Burlington area for 26 years. Eva was a member of the Letts United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Registered Nurses' Association of Burlington and the Jane Delano Club.

      Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Thomas of Letts and Mrs. Gregg (Marie) Bassett of Ellsworth, Maine; four sons, Glen Carman of Burlington, Dale Carman of Stony Brook, New York, James Carman of Tallahassee, Florida, and David Carman of Nanhassett, New York; seventeen granchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Fischer of Burlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Mickelson of Burlington and Mrs. Howard (Elsie) Miller of New London, Iowa.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman, on November 1, 1994; a brother, Charles, and sisters, Ruby, Alice and Nellie; and an infant daughter.
