      Newton Jasper Walker, son of George and Sarah Walker, was born in Clinton county, Indiana, March 5, 1852, died in Darlington, Missouri, April 26, 1930, age 78 years, 1 month and 21 days.

      When only two years of age he came with his parents to Missouri, and has spent practically all his life in and around Darlington.

      On December 28, 1881, he was united in marriage to Mary Josephine Foglesong who preceded him in death May 29, 1920.

      To this union six children were born, Ivy, and Mrs. Jessie Howell deceased. Mrs Irene Cobb of Torrington, Wyoming, Henry of Manchester, Wyoming. Mrs Maggie Cobb, of Darlington, Missouri, and Glen of Tucson, Arizona.

      He was converted in 1911, near Eagle City, Oklahoma, and just before his last illness he told his daughter of his hopes of the future, and of his readiness to go.

      There remain, the four children, eight grandchildren, one brother, Wesley, of Darlington, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn.

      Services were held at the Methodist church in Darlington, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the pastor, and burial was at the Rouse cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. David and Mrs. Kittie Miller brought the music in song with Mrs. C. W. Groom at the piano.

    • Based upon the children listed in the 1840 census, there may have been a daughter and son not known in addition to the eleven known children of Sarah and George. One boy and one girl are both unaccounted for from that census. There is a boy aged 10-15 in the 1830 census, too, who probably is not theirs, as they had only been married 3 years at that time.
