    • Marjorie Lucille Stout, 84, of Mediapolis, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Prairie Ridge Care & Rehab in Mediapolis.

      Born December 26, 1921, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Rodman W. and Helen Delzell Baird. On July 4, 1942, she married Lloyd E. Stout in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1986.

      She graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1940. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Mediapolis since 1942. She was active in King's Daughters and Young At Heart. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and knitting. She collected cookbooks.

      Survivors include one son, Jim Stout of Mediapolis; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Kenneth Baird of Mediapolis and Norman "Barney" Baird of Fairfield; and one sister, Lillian Mott of Hamilton, Illinois.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

      Friends may call after noon on Friday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

      The funeral ceremony for Mrs. Stout will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Reverend Brad Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in Kossuth Cemetery.

      A memorial fund has been established for Mediapolis Community Ambulance Service and First United Presbyterian Church.

    • At the Methodist parsonage in Wapello, Tuesday evening of this week [April 13, 1920], occured the wedding of Mr. Rodman Baird and Miss Helen Grace Delzell, the ceremony being performed by Reverend W. S. Moore. The happy couple were attended by Miss Vera Smith and Mr. Howard Delzell.

      The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Delzell, northeast of town, and is a popular and estimable young lady. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. (sic) Baird, is a graduate of our high school and an industrious and ambitious young farmer. Both will receive the hearty congratulations of hosts of friends in this community. They will reside on the Baird farm in the Sharon neighborhood.
