    • Death of Mrs. Jane Congrove.

      Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Congrove, for many years a resident of Morning Sun, who died Thursday evening, April 5th (1923), were held from the home of Mrs. Ola Marshall in Wapello, Saturday afternoon last at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Reverend O. E. McBride. Burial was made in Elmwood cemetery at Morning Sun.

      Mary Jane Coleman was born in Reedsville, Ohio, June 17, 1840, and came to Iowa 48 years ago. The greater part of her life was spent in Morning Sun. She was married to John Congrove and their union was blessed with eleven children. Two died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Carrie Hamilton, after she had grown to womanhood.

      Those who survive are: Mrs. John Bachman of Waterloo; Mrs. Lizzie Minister of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Frank Reddick of Iowa City; Mrs. Catherine Windmiller of Des Moines; Fred Congrove of Hampton; Charles Congrove of Chicago; Mrs. Cora Baird of Newport, and Mrs. Ola Marshall of Wapello. She also raised four stepchildren and a grandson, Delbert Hamilton.

      The following relatives were called here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Congrove: Mrs. Catherine Windmiller of Des Moines; Mrs. Anna Bachman of Waterloo; Mrs. Maud Reddick and son Orville and daughter Rachel of Iowa City; Mrs. Charles Steele and Dalbert Hamilton of Davenport; Fred Congrove of Hampton; Charles Congrove of Chicago; Miss Mary Baird of Burlington.

      (Note: Lizzie Minister of Denver was a stepdaughter, from John Congrove's first marrige. Apparently 3 of Mary's children died in infancy or early childhood, the 1910 census confirms 11 children born, 8 living)
