The Family of Edward Nelson 'Ed' and Ruth Alfrida (Young) Moyers
The Family of Edward Nelson "Ed" and Ruth Alfrida (Young) Moyers
Ed Moyers was married at age 32 on January 21, 1920, to Ruth Young (she was age 24). As they started "later" in life than the siblings of Ed Moyers, their children were the last of their generation born in the family (younger brother, Hally Moyers', children were all born between 1909 and 1926).

This photograph was taken most probably between about 1940 and 1945, and can be identified with the following family members: Back row, left to right: Caroline Ellen Moyers, Lloyd Arthur Moyers, and Ethel Louise Moyers. Front row, left to right: Mabel Elna Moyers, Edward Nelson "Ed" Moyers, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Moyers, Ruth (Alfrida) Moyers, and Doyle Edward Moyers Sr.

This was the family of Edward and Ruth (Youngberg) Moyers in about 1924, on their farm in Des Moines County, Iowa. The two girls on the left are Caroline and Ethel Moyers, and the son sitting on Edward's lap is Doyle. As can be seen from the photograph, the family were farmers.

Doyle, the young boy on the right of this photograph, was born in May 1923, so this likely was from the summer of 1925. Ethel (left) and Caroline (right) would have been three and four years old, respectively. They lived in Des Moines County, Iowa.

    The Ed Nelson Moyers Home
This photograph was in the tribute to Ethel Louise Moyers upon her death. It is the house in Benton Township, Des Moines County, Iowa, where Edward Nelson "Ed" Moyers and Ruth Alfrida Youngberg began their family. Judging from the electrification nearby, I am estimating this photograph was taken in about 1940.

Taken probably in about 1950, this photograph is of four of the children of Edward Nelson "Ed" and Ruth Alfrida (Youngberg) Moyers. The women are, left to right, Mabel Ellen, Elizabeth Ann "Betty," and Ethel Louise Moyers. The man is their brother, Lloyd Arthur Moyers.

The woman in the back of this photograph and the man in the middle cannot presently be identified positively, although I assume them to be the spouses of Lloyd Arthur Moyers and Caroline Ellen (Moyers) Bailey. Ethel Louise Moyers is in the back on the right, Lloyd, Ruth, the mother of the three Moyers children here, and Caroline are in the front. Ruth died in February 1970, this was probably not too long before that.

The women in the back are Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Long, Mabel Elna Haines, Ethel Louise Moyers, and Caroline Ellen Bailey. Lloyd Arthur Moyers and Doyle Edward Moyers Sr. are sitting in the front. The man asleep on the couch on the right side of the picture may be a husband of one of the women.

This was a photograph my mother, Hattie "Leota" (Walker/Krekel) Brumm had which was not identified. Having seen a number of photographs of the children of Ed and Ruth (Youngberg) Moyers, I can now confidently claim the two women on it are Ethel and Caroline Moyers. It was probably taken in about 1945.

This is a family reunion photograph, taken in 1949, of members of the extended Walker family of my maternal relatives. Several members of the Moyers family are also in this picture.

Those identified and not in this photograph are: Charles Leander "Lee" Walker, his wife, Aleta Marie (Hewitt) Walker, an unknown woman (sitting in the chair), Hattie "Leota" (Walker) Krekel (standing), holding an unknown baby, but it likely was 3-month-old Steven William "Steve" Walker, Ruth Aralene (Wheeler) Broeker, a woman with her back to the camera, possibly one of the Moyers' sisters, Caroline Ellen Moyers, Ethel Louise Moyers, William David "Bill" Walker, Zella "Myrtle" (Walker) Dotson, Margaret Leora (Lesher) Walker, and Flossie Zella (Walker) Russell.
