    • Alfred Immigrated to the United States from Sweden in 1866 (according to the 1930 federal census in Morning Sun and the 1900 federal census there) or else 1864 (according to the 1930 federal census in West Branch, where he was counted a second time) or else 1868 (according to the book published by the editor J. W. Merrill of the Mediapolis newspaper at that time, Yellow Spring and Huron). In 1920 the federal census image was hard to read but it appears to say he immigrated in 1865 and became a citizen in 1866.

In the book Yellow Spring and Huron, it did additionally state that he came to the U.S., went back to Sweden once, then returned to America. This could account for some of the confusion.
