    The Hawk Eye 
    • William "Bill" Lox, 66, of Oquawka, Illinois, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, October 31, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

      Born August 2, 1920, in Gladstone, Illinois, he was the son of Lucius and Catherine Calley (sic: Colley) Lox. On July 27, 1960, he married Fannie Damp.

      Mr. Lox was a tavern owner for 30 years, operating the Blue Goose and Long Branch taverns, before retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II.

      He belonged to VFW Post No. 2301 in Monmouth, Illinois.

      Surviving are six sons, Wayne Lox, Fort Madison, Scott Lox, Peoria, Illinois, Jay Lox, Billings, Montana, and Mark, Kent and Gary Lox, all of Oquawka; six brothers, Bob (sic: real name David, went by "Rob"), Jamie, Jack and Rusty Lox, all of Oquawka, and Irvin and Danny of Gladstone, Illinois; three sisters, Joy Haines (sic: Hainds), Colorado Springs, Colorado, Beverly Alecock of Rozetta, Illinois, and Francis Haines (sic: Hainds) of Oquawka; and one grandson.

      There will be no visitation. Graveside services for Mr. Lox will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, following cremation, at the Oquawka Cemetery with the Reverend John White officiating.

      Memorials have been established at the Gladstone and Monmouth VFW posts.

    The Obituary Lucius Willliam "Bill" Lox
    Bill Lox was a son of Lucius W. Lox Sr. and Catherine Lucy "Kate" Colley. He was born in Gladstone, Illinois, and lived most or all of his life nearby in the town of Oquawka. He was married in about 1943 to a woman whose name is unknown, and they had a son, Wayne W. Lox. In 1949 he married Virginia Mae Dotson, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" Dotson and Zella "Myrtle" Walker. They had two sons, Scott Alan and Jay Brian Lox, and later were divorced. Bill married a third time to Fannie L. Damp, and they have three sons, Mark Edward, Kent E., and Gary Lox. Bill was born August 2, 1920, died October 31, 1986, and was buried in the Oquawka Cemetery.
