    Beverly Jean "Bev" Broeker is on the left, and Shirley Lea Broeker, her sister, on the right. Their mother Ruth Rebecca (Walker) Broeker, dated the photograph as June 8, 1937, and sent this to her sister, my mom, Leota Walker.

    This photograph of six cousins in the Walker family was apparently taken on a snowless winter day in Iowa in about 1938. Doris Idella and Wilda Maxine Walker were the daughters of Thomas Clifford "Cliff" and Wilda "Marguerite" Walker. Mazie Ella and Vera Marie Walker were daughters of George Percy Walker and Verona Violet Dotson. Shirley Lea and Beverly Jean Broeker were the daughters of Ruth Rebecca Walker and Wallace Ernest "Wally" Broeker.

    This photograph from about 1939 features, left to right, back row: Doris Idella Walker holding Shirley Lea Broeker, Mazie Ella Walker, and on the right Marjorie Naomi Walker. In front of Marjorie, pointing forward, is her brother, Robert Charles Walker. The two girls in the fron are Jean Louise Walker, and Beverly Jean Broeker. Doris, Mazie, and Jean Walker, and the Broeker girls are all first cousins. Marjorie and Robert are a half-aunt and half-uncle to the others.     Bev is tending to Wally's needs during the later years of his life. Wally, born in 1911, died in 1998. Bev was born in 1933 and died in 2004.

They were attended by the bride's father and sister, Miss Leota Walker, Robert McClure, and the bridegroom's aunt and cousin of Monmouth. The couple will reside on the Broeker farm near here.

      Morning Sun (IA), August 15. -- Miss Ruth Walker, daughter of S. N. Walker, north of Morning Sun, and Wallace Broeker, son of the late William Broeker, of the Sharon vicinity were united in marriage at Monmouth, Illinois, Friday afternoon, the Reverend G. S. Fulcher, D. D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. They were attended by Miss Leota Walker, sister of the bride, and Robert McClure of the Sharon vicinity. Wallace Broeker was graduated from the local high school with the class of 1931. They will make their home on the farm in the Sharon vicinity. Both have many friends in this and in the Sharon vicinity.
