Adolph Gerst, a son of Julius R. and Sarah (Knapp) Gerst, married Beverly Walker, the daughter of Carl Isaac and Ruth Louise (Taeger) Walker. Their marriage produced five children: Kim, Dianne R., Laurie, Alan E., and Scott Gerst. Beverly is a descendant of the Walker and Dean families of West Virginia and later Des Moines County, Iowa. Her second great grandparents were Jonathan R. and Mary Ann (Dean) Friend.

Adolphus "Lee" Larkin
Lee Larkin was the son of James Wilbur Larkin (1851-1919) and Sarah Elizabeth Moyers (1850-1881). Born October 28, 1872, in Des Moines County, Iowa, he moved to Kansas and there married Ester Pearl Shepherd (1876-1944) on May 22, 1905. Their children were Lewis Shepherd Larkin and Sarah "Blanche" Tartar. Lee died February 2, 1955, in Burlingame, California.

Dr. Alan Lutenegger, a 1970 graduate of New London (Iowa) High School, is married to Rhonda. He is an engineering professor at the University of Massachusetts. Alan's parents were Alfred A. (1917-1963) and Virginia (Senn) Lutenegger (1917-2006). His sister is Cecelia El-Khatib. Alan was a first cousin, twice removed of Paul Henry Stodt, who married Dorothy Virginia (Brumm) Herman. He's also a first cousin of William F. "Billy" Krekel, who was a stepson of my mother, Hattie "Leota" (Walker/Krekel) Brumm, from her first marriage to Kenneth Joseph Krekel.

Albert "Ross" Walker
Ross Walker was born Christmas Eve, 1899, near Newport, Iowa. He died of pneumonia at age 35 May 13, 1936, near Morning Sun, Iowa. Ross was a son of Samuel Nathaniel "Sam" and Hattie Mae "Harriet" (Moyers) Walker. February 13, 1922, he was married to Vinnie Westfall, the daughter of Jacob "Jack" and Eva (Robertson) Westfall. They had four children, sons: Donald Ross, Ralph Leroy, Kenneth Phillip Walker; and daughter, Lela Maxine (Walker) Miller.

Albert Nathaniel Wells
Albert Wells was the son of Ernest Eugene Wells (1876-1930) and Clara M. Nantz (1876-1942). Albert was born September 16, 1910, in Burlington, Iowa, and married Eunice I. Imthurn there May 14, 1930, at the Free Methodist Parsonage. They moved the family to Los Angeles, California, in 1940. Their four children are: Nancy Jean Atkins, Margaret Ruth Elam, Joan Eleanor Mastroluca, and Kenneth Ernest Wells. Albert died October 3, 1973, in Orange County, California, and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles. His wife, Eunice, died in 1999.

Aleta Hewitt was born in Iowa in 1890 to Cyrus F. and Mary Susanna (McClure) Hewitt. She was the second of four children. Aletz married my granduncle, Charles Leander "Lee" Walker, December 14, 1910. He was the fifth child and fourth son born to Charles Pearsey and Ruth Ellen (Fox) Walker. Charles and Aleta had three children. Mary Alice Walker married John White; they had a son. Lester Hewitt Walker died in infancy at age 9 days. Charles "Cecil" Walker married a woman named Rosa and had several children. Aleta died in 1982.
