"Wayne Wolcek, minister of the ISU Christian Fellowship, said the pamphlet might not depict homosexuals in a totally accurate context,... ISU DAILY, 1974" |
These panels are easily exposed as vicious cartoon propaganda when the stars of the Gay Blade tract's faces are compared to the original photographs, seen below each panel on this page. The woman shielding the child's eyes (didn't happen), seems much more in a tizzy than the perplexed woman in the actual shot (delving into "scag drag," the term of the day for such imaginative apparitions as the gay men in the photo, is beyond the scope of these Gay Blade Fun Pages).
In the lower panel, the people who were angry and demonstrating certainly didn't seem to port those horrid wrinkles J.T. kept putting on all the gay men's faces to insinuate evil... no, they had good skin turgor, and no limp fists, judging from the real photograph.
