Collegiate Presbyterian Church, Ames
collegiate presbyterian church, ames

This may have been the first dance that wasn't at the Unitarian Church in Ames, but I don't know for sure. The minister at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, Jim (?), approached us and asked us to use his facilities sometime, so we expanded into having dances with the Presbyterians.

Unitarian Church, Ames
unitarian church, ames

It was a bit more conveniently located for most students, being right next to campus, but the Unitarians had always treated us well and generally when I remember Ames gay dances in the 70s I think of the dances at the Unitarian Church.
