She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and a daughter, Beverly Jo Anderson.

Born September 6, 1908, in Woodburn, to Eli and Everna Walker Frizzell, she married Joseph Cartwright on June 6, 1929, in Leon. She was a teacher in Clark County and served as director of the Cedar Rapids Children's Home for 10 years until retiring in 1974

Doris married Joseph William Cartwright, son of William Clyde "W. C." Cartwright and Grace E. Bailey, on June 6, 1929 in Leon, Decatur County, Iowa.¹ (Joseph William Cartwright was born on December 17, 1904 in Decatur County, Iowa,⁷ died in March 1975 in Linn County, Iowa ⁷ and was buried in the High Point Cemetery, Decatur County, Iowa ⁸.)
