• Obituary, March 1939. 1 Passing of Mrs. Wallace Broeker

Mrs. Ruth Rebecca Broeker, wife of Wallace E. Broeker, living southeast of town, died at the Oakdale sanitarium Monday, March 20th, following several months' illness.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Reverend J. A. Worrell. Mrs. Sam McElhinney, Mrs. Ralph Yohe, Mrs. George Green and Miss Marian Wilson sang, with Miss Helen Griffith as accompanist.

The interment was at Elmwood cemetery, the pallbearers being Earl Auld, Talmadge Mehaffy, Work Carithers, Wilford Robb, Henry McKee and Everett Piper. Mrs. Earl Auld and Imogene Auld cared for the flowers.

Ruth Rebecca Walker Broeker was born March 28, 1915, in this county, the daughter of S. N. and Hattie M. Walker. She was united in marriage to Wallace E. Broeker, August 12, 1932. To this union were born two daughters, Beverly Jean, aged 6, and Shirley Lee, aged 2, who with her husband survive. Also surviving are her father and step-mother; four sisters, Elsie Walker, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Maud (sic: Maude) Fortner of Winterset, Iowa; Mrs. Myrtle Dotson and Leota Walker of New London; five brothers, George Walker and Clifford Walker of New London; Sam Walker of Marion, Iowa; William and Paul of Morning Sun; two half-sisters, Viola and Marjorie Walker, and two half-brothers, Johnny and Robert Walker of Morning Sun. Her mother and one brother, Ross, preceded her in death.

Walker, north of Morning Sun, and Wallace Broeker, son of the late William Broeker, of the Sharon vicinity were united in marriage at Monmouth, Illinois, Friday afternoon, the Reverend G. S.
