Born May 5, 1962, in Burlington, he was the son of Herbert W. and Lois Luedeman Blanchard. He married Ada Hand on May 18, 1985, in Danville.
Mr. Blanchard was a 1980 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He was a truck driver for Liberty Transportation in Burlington, with 12 years of service [per Ada, he drove 12 years but not all 12 for Liberty].
He was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ and IOOF Lodge 552 in Wever. He loved being with his family, taking his children fishing and playing computer games with them. He enjoyed deer hunting.
Survivors include one son, Johnathan Blanchard of Danville; one daughter, Kallista Blanchard of Danville; his parents of Danville [sic: Wever]; two brothers, William R. Blanchard and Jeffery Blanchard, both of Wever; one niece; aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. An Oddfellows service will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Blanchard will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at King-Lynk Funeral Home, with the Reverends Paul Smith and David O'Rourke officiating. Burial will be in Claypoole Cemetery, Wever.
A memorial has been established for his children's education.

Ralph married Ada Irene Hand, daughter of John Franklin "Buster" Hand and Laura Irene "Irene" Rhum.
