• Marriage Fact. According to family genealogist Marjorie Kimble, for a time in the 1930s it was the "in" thing for Southeast Iowa people to do to go to Monmouth, Illinois, to get married. Sam and Betty Walker did this. Later people went to Kahoka, Missouri (Bill and Margaret Walker, for example). Still later couples went to Nashua, where "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" was located. Why these places were arbitrarily popular and chosen is unknown. • Residence, April 6, 1936, Springville, Linn County, Iowa. 9 • Residence, May 18, 1936, Springville, Linn County, Iowa. 10 • Residence, March 1939, Marion, Linn County, Iowa. 11 • City Directory: Polk's Burlington (Des Moines County, Iowa) City Directory, 1943, Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. 12 Samuel C.
